In 1989 Vico Magistretti created what would become a rather unique piece of furniture - the Portovenere sofa. The name is borrowed from a picturesque Italian coastal town in Liguria, known for its colorful houses perched on cliffs overlooking the sea. Perhaps Magistretti was inspired by the curved coastline when designing the sofa’s distinctive winged backrest. What makes the Portovenere particularly clever is its adjustable side headrests.
