Lounge Chair 670 RAY & CHARLES EAMES for HERMAN MILLER

€5,300.00

The holy grail of furniture design that you literally encounter everywhere - “Look at me being design-conscious!” Okay, no kidding, it’s a masterpiece by Ray & Charles Eames. The piece we offer you is one from manufacturer Herman Miller, produced in the U.S.A. First introduced in 1956, remaining in continuous production since then! We are offering you an edition from the 1980s, which has a black-stained plywood shell - ash wood - with a clearly visible straight grain which is typical for ash. The edges shows the layered construction of the plywood, with a contrasting orange/brown edge.

This ‘black edition’ is rare, particularly due to its distinctive edge detailing, creating a striking contrast with the black-stained surface. The natural wood color on the edges and the black-stained surface emphasizes the sculptural quality of the bent plywood and highlights the craftsmanship of the chair’s construction. This particular treatment of the wood was not commonly done, making this version especially desirable among collectors of Eames furniture. I can talk for ages about this design icon…! At last, this piece was carefully reupholstered, a high quality leather with a beautiful matte finish that matches the original Herman Miller specifications.
